Our Courses

Our practical, confidence‑building sessions are designed to sit alongside the RYA courses we offer, giving you the chance to focus on the skills you want to develop. Whether it’s your first time on the water, you’re looking to build hours before taking a qualification, or you simply want additional hands‑on practice, we provide supportive, tailored training to help you feel comfortable and in control.

This training is for those who don’t need the RYA Certificate but still want to get out onto the water with a qualified instructor. The training will follow all national standard methods, teaching techniques that are suitable for beginners through to the more experienced boaters.

Your instructor can cover subjects such as engine operation and maintenance, personal safety, vessel preparation, boat handling, securing to a buoy, man overboard, rules of the road and much more.

The cost is for exclusive use of the boat, with an instructor, for 1-3 people.

Powerboat Taster Session

2 hours

Our Powerboat Taster Session is perfect for anyone who wants time on the water with a qualified instructor without needing an RYA certificate. It’s a practical, confidence‑building introduction that follows recognised national training methods, giving you safe, structured time afloat whether it’s your first experience or you’re looking for extra practice. This short course, for 2-3 people, will be delivered on the calm waters of the Aire & Calder Navigation, at low speed due to local speed limits.

Your instructor can cover core subjects such as personal safety, preparing the vessel, close‑quarters boat handling, securing to a buoy, man‑overboard procedures, rules of the road and more. Each session can be tailored to your requirements, ensuring you get the most out of your time on the water.
